Reaction to Briggs chapter 10

In Chapter 10 of “Journalism Next”, Briggs encourages aspiring journalists to develop a sense of community with their viewers. Whether it be followers of your blog or someone viewing an article of yours on a news site, it is up to the journalist to communicate to a broad audience in a familiar manner.

When it comes down to it not everyone has advanced reading skills, the journalist must use words that are simple to understand. Writing the news must maintain a conversational feel.

Lastly, a journalist or blogger can enhance the communal feel of their works through the use of comments. By regularly checking comments that readers have placed on their stories, they can both communicate more effectively with their audience while also receiving some constructive feedback. By commenting back, a more personal bond is developed with the reader that may encourage them to come back to you for future news.
